In this novel there are lots of different themes, worth to talk about! due to the fact that we only were allowed to write 5 pages, we choose these themes as the most important ones.
ReplyDeleteThis must have been such an interesting assignment to undertake, it is such a different approach to those I ever experienced, and so much more 'in depth'. I enjoyed reading everything here and it made me think about the story more. I haven't read the book, but the film is wonderful and we have watched our DVD a few times. Clearly I cannot compare the book and film, but it seems to me that the film was a very good interpretation of the story within the confines and limitations of a movie.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting, Jez, absolutely! Reading a novel like The Color Purple is a literary experience and as a future English teacher, to dig into the deeper layers and get an understanding of the background of the story and the situation of especially women, is necessary and touching. And then it is possible to relate it to people's circumstances today (hence the other blog for collaborative teaching).
DeleteThe film is a very good adaptation of the novel and it rouses feelings and mirrors the content of the novel very well. The actors did an amazingly great job there!
Thank you for your comment!
